Hypnosis

“Hypnosis is a state of mind in which the critical faculty of the human is bypassed and selective thinking established” (Elman)

What Is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is extremely effective and is a valuable therapeutic tool that really works and that can be used for an ever-growing range of issues.

Hypnosis is a natural state where you feel increased levels of relaxation ready to be receptive to positive suggestions through the unconscious mind.

Many people come to a Hypnotherapist thinking that there is something about trance, which is very different from their “normal” state of consciousness. This is definitely not the case.  A light trance will likely feel no different from a normal and natural state of relaxation.

What To Expect?

You will be able to hear my voice no matter how deep you go into Hypnosis and you will remember everything I say.  Although, you will only remember what you need to remember.

Think about when your engrossed in a good film or book or when you are driving your car and you don’t remember getting there. This is just you, using your mind in a different way, allowing yourself to get into a different state of awareness.

It is when you do go into a trance, and begin communicating with your unconscious mind, that you’re able to re-write your story and change any underlying beliefs that are not serving you well. And that’s when you can replace those beliefs with better ones.

When you’re in a trance, your conscious mind sort of switches off. You’re able to relax and shut out the everyday world and accept suggestions without questioning or analysing.

Hypnosis is a technique involving two-way communication so that you can interact with the hypnotherapist.  You’re usually aware of everything that’s going on around you.

In a nutshell, hypnosis is a form of focused relaxation that helps to bypass the conscious mind and get at the unconscious.  This means you have moved away from the conscious everyday world which means you are free to focus on a single idea.

Hypnosis is NOT

Sleep or unconsciousness (you will still hear my voice).

Hypnotherapy is not about feeling “ZONKED OUT”.

It is NOT mind control.

How can hypnosis help you

Hypnosis can help treat things from stopping smoking, weight loss, depression, anxiety, pain, self-esteem issues, trauma, bad habits and phobias just to name a few.

SMOKING & ALCOHOL

Hypnosis has proven extremely successful when it comes to smoking and alcohol. It enables someone to change the way they think about smoking and alcohol at a deep profound level, helping them find the motivation to quit within themselves.

BAD HABITS

Hypnosis has long been used to battle and obliterate bad habits including everything from nail biting to procrastination through the ability to get at the unconscious mind.

EMOTIONAL TRAUMA

Emotional trauma occurs as a result of a stressful event that can leave a person feeling insecure, helpless and alone.

Whatever the experience, hypnosis can help deal with the trauma and improve the person’s quality of life.

WEIGHT CONTROL

Hypnosis makes it possible for the unconscious mind to take back control of a person’s eating habits. So instead of food controlling their life, control moves back into their own hands.

FEARS & PHOBIAS

While some fears appear to serve a purpose (fear of heights, fire, etc.) most phobias seem to be totally irrational, such as the fear of balloons.

Even these seemingly irrational phobias served a purpose at one time.  What hypnosis does is to find the root cause of the phobia and enable the client to deal with it and eliminate it from their life.

DEPRESSION

Certain traumatic events act as triggers for depression, including things like the death of a loved one, the loss of your job or your home, divorce, and so on.

Hypnosis works by enabling you to deal directly with the traumatic event through the unconscious mind.

ANXIETY

Hypnosis is a powerful technique for dealing with or relieving anxiety. That’s partly because hypnosis is entirely natural with no side-effects.

It changes the way you respond to stress and anxiety, helping you deal with the physical and emotional aspects of your life that can lead to anxiety and stress. It puts YOU back in control of your life by helping you reprogram your brain.

OCD

OCD often shows up as obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors. These thoughts or behaviours can be genetic, or the result of damaged or malfunctioning neural pathways. In the majority of cases caused by emotional or development issues.

STRESS

As with anxiety, hypnosis has been proven useful in helping to keep stress at comfortable and manageable levels.

It can do that by focusing on the underlying emotions that are feeding the stress and that are keeping it at the forefront of the person’s mind.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In some instances, where anxiety and/or depression have become so overwhelming that they’re significantly impairing a person’s ability to function, medication can serve as a useful (and sometimes necessary) crutch when combined with therapy to get them through such difficult periods. Sometimes, hypnosis alone is not enough and a subject should be referred to a medical professional for immediate attention.
